Street Works has been breaking down barriers since 1997 when its Founder and Executive Director recognized unaddressed obstacles to accessing HIV care in communities devastated by poverty, homelessness and addiction. Beginning with a makeshift office in the trunk of a car, outreach was conducted on the streets of Nashville during late night hours to reach high risk populations and provide them with HIV prevention information and sexual responsibility supplies.
All services are free of charge.
In 2000, Street Works was charted as a non-profit corporation and currently provides a comprehensive range of HIV prevention and care services.
